Reed Band Trip To Germany 2011
14th May 2010
30 years of friendship –
the Reed Band's links with Germany
The Band's strong links with West Lothian's German ‘twin’, Hochsauerlandkreis (HSK), will be celebrated when we embark on another trip to the picturesque region near Dortmund in July 2011.
Our 25th anniversary in 1981 was marked by a ten day stay in the area known as the land of the thousand hills. Further summer visits followed in 1985 and 1989, with an Easter trip taking place in 2008.
As well as travelling to Germany, we have long been involved with visiting music groups from HSK. In 2009, Carsten Freitag, a percussionist in the historic town of Arnsberg, joined us for the Marches and Gala Day.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of our personal twinning relationship with HSK, and a major fundraising drive is underway. Events already planned for this year include:
Saturday 15th May
Sponsored walk three times around the Loch Click Here for more information.
Wednesday 1st Sept
Prize bingo at the Rose Club
Friday 10th Sept
Family Ceilidh
Saturday 2nd Oct
Bag packing, Sainsbury’s, Linlithgow
Friday 29th Oct

Saturday 18th Dec and Friday 24th Dec
Carols and collections in local supermarkets
Any band members wishing to start paying towards the trip should speak to Seonaid at rehersals.
